IBM SDK for Node.js – z/OS Version 8 highlights
Higlights of the V8 release include:
- Updated npm 6.4.1 (Node.js package manager), which includes standardized lockfiles for cross-package-manager compatibility and automatic saving of newly installed packages without explicitly adding the
- Compile ASCII format, the most popular format for external npm modules. Previously the C++ compiler included with Node.js – z/OS could only compile C++ add-ons in EBCDIC format.
- The experimental async/await, which is a modern approach that allows you to write asynchronous code that looks like synchronous code
- The buffer module is initialized to zeros providing better security against potential vulnerabilities

IBM SDK for Node.js – z/OS has a zero license charge, IBM Software Subscription and Support (S&S) is optional.
