IBM talks and quick labs @ Devoxx Belgium

November 20, 2019 devadvin

Devoxx Belgium, a 5-day conference where developers and architects come together to explore the latest technology advancements, took place on 4 – 8 November 2019. If you met us there or are curious to see what you missed, here’s a quick rundown of what we covered, complete with links to the recordings of the sessions.

Racing on the IBM booth

At the IBM booth, a game area gave developers the chance to race like pros in the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Simulator. Colleagues also raced each other in the Liberty Bikes Game, bringing back memories of the addictive Snake game.

Java quick labs

A wide variety of quick labs gave developers the opportunity to experience hands-on what it’s like to work with some of the latest technologies, including AI, cloud-native Java, machine learning, microservices, serverless, and more. Developers received limited-edition IBM Developer swag after joining one of the quick labs. The IBM socks were a big hit!

Book signing, and meet and greet

On Wednesday evening, we held a meet and greet with IBM experts and external speakers on Java, cloud-native, containers, Kubernetes, AI, machine learning, and more. In addition to IBM speakers Ana-Maria Mihalceanu, Emily Jiang, Grace Jansen, Graham Charters, Jamie Coleman, and Steve Poole, we also hosted speakers from Red Hat and our open source partners.

During the evening, there was an opportunity to receive a copy of the O’Reilly eBook: Developing Open Cloud Native Microservices: Your Java Code in Action, signed by three of the authors, Graham Charters, Pratik Patel, and Steve Poole.

Overview of our sessions

IBM held 18 sessions, with speakers from all over the world. This list will be updated as more recordings become available.
