We heard you loud and clear — you’re crazy about drones and love to create custom applications for them.
That’s why over the next five weeks, we’re giving away 1,500 DJI Tello drones to select winners and we’ll even help you program it.
The good news doesn’t stop there. I’m excited to announce this year’s IBM Developer Drone Giveaway has expanded eligibility to residents of the UK and Spain, as well as the United States, and Canada.
We know developers can create amazing solutions when they have the right tools. During the 2018 Call for Code, for example, developer Pedro Cruz showed us that a drone can save lives when combined with IBM Watson Visual Recognition.
We want to see what you can do to change the world. The DJI Tello drone is more than just a cool prize. We’ll give you code patterns to unlock its potential, and introduce you to new skills around visual recognition, AI and machine learning.
The drones are ready to fly
The IBM Developer Drone Challenge runs through June 16, 2019. Want to get in on the action? Here’s what you need to do:
Step 1: Visit the contest page, click “Enter now,” and sign up for your free IBM Cloud account to be in the running.
Step 2: On Tuesdays between now and June 16, 2019, watch the IBM Developer Twitch channel and check your email. Each week, we’ll randomly select a group of winners who will receive a DJI Tello drone, full access to code patterns for drone programming, and a nice surprise or two.
Step 3: Code something amazing with open source patterns. Complete a series of challenges, using tools like Node-RED and IBM Watson Visual Recognition, Watson IoT, IBM Cloud, and IBM Data and Analytics, to create a drone application that makes a difference in your community. Showcase your work on social using #IBMDroneDrop.
Developers around the world are using the IBM Cloud platform to write, test and share code. If you’re not already part of our community, join the challenge to see what’s possible and meet a new world of coders. Whether you’re filming panoramic views or coding new technologies, we want to see what you’ve done.
As inspiration, I’ll leave you with some more of my favorite drone applications. Happy programming!
